Troy Pugh, MBA, AIF®
Troy is a founding partner of Waypoint Wealth Management with his brother, Roger. Troy earned his Master of Business Administration degree from Utah State University after receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from the Marriott School of Management at Brigham Young University. He is an Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®) from the Center for Fiduciary Studies and holds a certificate in Financial Planning from Boston University. Troy began his post-undergraduate career working as a financial and business analyst for an international product-marketing firm.
Eventually graduate school, a growing family, and an extraordinary amount of business travel gave Troy the reason to shift gears and join Roger at a national brokerage firm. The nature of the business agreed much more with family life and gave Troy and his wife, Leslie, the reason they were looking for to return to Troy's home state of Washington. It only took a few more years before Troy and Roger were ready to create Waypoint Wealth Management. This move to their own private practice was an effort to more fully serve the needs of their clients and avoids the biases of their former firm.
Troy focuses much of his practice on Waypoint's “disciplinedIQ” advisory process which combines a disciplined approach to asset selection and allocation with a sensible approach to risk management. This process is the result of a critical exploration of industry biases and a rethinking of the basic tenants of traditional investment philosophy. Visit DisciplinedIQ for a preview of the process.
Troy is also founder and Trustee of The Waypoint Foundation, a tax-exempt non-profit organization which provides educational opportunities to the youth of communities they serve. The foundation’s largest event of each year is a chess tournament open to all students K-12 throughout Grant County. For more information, please visit www.waypointfoundation.org.
Troy and Leslie live in Ephrata with their three children. On occasion when Troy is not spending time with his family he enjoys working on his skills as a fly-fisherman. While fishing for king salmon and tarpon rank high on his list of fishing experiences, Rocky Ford Creek just a few miles out of Ephrata remains his biggest challenge. He somewhat enjoys being a frustrated fly fisherman.
